I’m a girl from a small, but important, town.
I’m a girl that likes sports, bar games and drinking. However, I’m also the girl that loves snuggling in bed with a good book, painting my fingernails or watching a chick flick.
I’m a girl that went to college with the dream of becoming important, a dream of majoring in English and History and doing something meaningful with my life. Somewhere along the way, a practical thought came into my head that told me I needed to choose a career that would support me in a lifestyle with which I was comfortable. I walked through the doors of the Business and Economics building and changed who I was on the outside. I graduated to become a professional, to working in a “firm,” to wishing I had time to read the books I love and write down the dreams of stories I had.
So, here I am. Stuck between practicality and passion. That’s me.
I’m also that girl that you love to be friends with. You love talking sports with her (especially football and college basketball), because she knows what she’s talking about. You love going out to the bar to shoot pool or darts and drink a few beers with her because she’s laid back and fun to be around. There’s a lot more to me than that, though.
I’m a lover of good Japanese cuisine and pepperoni pizza from the local pizzeria, of other people’s dogs and children. Driving Bluegrass-country roads with the windows rolled down and a good song on the stereo is the easiest way to make myself happy after a long day at the office. Yard work and projects around the house end up being enjoyable once I finally set my mind to doing them, but there aren’t a lot of things that beat curling up in bed or in a hammock with a good book to read. Rainy days see me watching an old Cary Grant movie (or, possibly, the newest DVD I meant to go see at the theater).

Did you ever think of getting another degree or trying to switch careers? Not that your career is bad, just that you’ve never seemed to like it that much. You would be a good English professor.

Thanks for thinking that. I don’t have the patience to be a teacher of any kind, though, I don’t think. Also, now that I’m in this career, it would be really difficult to switch to one that’s not as lucrative, which sucks.

Holy shit. I started out as an English/Journalism major. That could have been problematic since I can’t spell for shit. Ha!

I love the banner. I didn’t have the sense to switch to something else after English–so here I am, English degrees in hand, no one knocking down my door. Oh yeah, and student loans. So if you ever need a reminder that you chose the right major, just look me up! Thanks for stopping by my site.
